The Black Crows Mentis Freebird is a quiver ski for uphiller who is looking to crush vertical. At 80-millimeters underfoot, its not a rando race ski, but is Black Crows lightest ski, tipping the scales at a scant 1,000 grams per ski. Construction of the ski starts with a full Paulownia core, combined with a carbon/fiberglass layup with a Titanal plate for binding retention underfoot. But unlike some other skis in this width range, its downhill performance matches its uphill prowess as well. Classic camber underfoot gives the Mentis a large contact point for carving up hardpack and firm snow along with great edge control, while slight tip rocker gives the ski soft snow capability along with the ability to pivot and smear. 2.2 reinforced edges are highly durable and can take a beating if hit rocks or stumps. A unique blunted nose gives the ski variable snow capability so you can bust through crud and chunder too. For fitness focused skiers who want to log lots of vertical and laps, the Black Crows Mentis Freebird is just the right tool for the job.
