April, 1st
Welcome to April as spring has certainly sprung again for us but not for too long. Its time to take the shovels back out again and get ready for a potential spring storm that could pack a punch.
This is no April fool’s joke, but winter conditions are set to return again this week to Stowe with a long duration snow event that could produce well over a foot of snow in the upper elevations Wednesday through Friday with some snow accumulating down in the valleys as well on Thursday. The snow will definitely be on the denser side, certainly being wet and heavy.  The good news is that this type of snow will certainly stick to all of the bare ground, rocks and thin cover areas that are now exposed from the latest warm up we have been having. The potential bad news is that we could also see some power outages due to this type of snow, but fingers crossed this this won’t happen.Â
As skiers, we tend to focus on the fresh tracks and soft snow with storms of this nature rather than the other negative implications that wet snow events can bring us. So bring on the snow and another powder cycle to the north country! Many of us are still craving another round of being in the white room.Â
