The Backcountry continues to hold good cover as we get into the first week of April. Conditions are still setting up below freezing at night and when the sun does come out, surfaces are softening quite nicely. Morning missions up steep areas like the Notch will require crampons and ice axes as conditions once you get up high offer a variety of mixed ice and crust. With rain forecasted through Thursday and then warm temps with sun forecasted for the up and coming weekend and next week, the snow will certainly start to go quickly. Get out there while the base is still in good shape before things start to deteriorate.
