Happy and healthy New Year wishes to all! From all of us here at MoutainOps, we wish all of you a great 2024!
The new year has greeted us with snowflakes falling from the sky this morning as the mountain picked up a healthy inch of snow last night and its still flurrying a bit here at the shop right now. There is something so special about seeing snow, whether it’s one inch or one foot.   And after a warm and wet holiday week, it’s a welcoming sight. Snow covers up all of the grounds imperfections and just makes everything look better, especially in a ski town like Stowe.Â
Locals passes are now valid and after a week being off snow, it was nice to get up on the mountain this morning for a few runs before work today. Conditions are firm and fast, so it really helps to get out early for the best turns as things get skied off quickly. A nice fresh edge really can make a difference out there right now. If you have been putting off getting your skis tuned, now is the time.
There is chance of some snow later this week, so fingers crossed for some more white stuff.
Uphill right at the mountain right now is the only choice right now as there just is not enough snow to go anywhere else right now other than the Notch Road. Uphill at Stowe Mountain resort now is only permitted at night after 4pm on the Perry Merrill trail. Nosedive continues to be closed for uphill for early morning laps. Hopefully that changes soon.
