Designed for alpinists who need a reliable, packable jacket that can withstand tough conditions, the 3L Ortler Jacket is part of Ortovox’s Merino Naker Sheep line, focusing on low weight, ultimate protection, and enhanced comfort.
Constructed with the advanced DERMIZAX® NX membrane by Toray, this jacket is engineered to be windproof, waterproof, and remarkably breathable. The Dermizax NX membrane is Ortovox’s highest-performing waterproof layer, offering a minimum 20,000 mm water column rating while maintaining excellent breathability of up to 28,000 g/m²/24h, making it perfect for sweat-inducing climbs and damp conditions. The PFC-free DWR finish ensures rain and snow bead off the surface, making it an eco-friendly choice that doesn’t compromise on performance.
The 3L Ortler Jacket is tailored to work with a harness and pack, featuring a 2-way front zipper that allows easy adjustment and ventilation on the go. 2-way underarm zippers provide additional ventilation when activity levels rise, making the jacket ideal for intense alpine climbs. The helmet-compatible, 2-way adjustable storm hood provides full coverage without sacrificing peripheral vision and can be cinched down securely in windy conditions. The adjustable cuffs and seam width adjustment allow a personalized fit, preventing cold air and moisture from sneaking in.
To keep comfort at a maximum, Ortovox has included 120 Merino Cool Tec inserts in the collar and hood lining. These soft merino wool blends wick moisture and regulate temperature, preventing discomfort during extended use in wet or cold conditions. Ortovox sources this merino wool from ethical farms that prioritize animal welfare, ensuring sustainability alongside performance.
The Ortler Jacket includes essential storage and safety features, such as a chest pocket and an upper arm pocket for quick access to small essentials like maps or an avalanche transceiver. The jacket’s regular fit is designed to allow freedom of movement while keeping close to the body for warmth and insulation, even on the most demanding high-altitude climbs.
