The BCX Tour, the softer and less expensive of Fischer's NNN BC backcountry boots. Lower cuff, more flex, lighter on the foot.
Softer is not worse, it is different. This boot strides and walks better than the Grand Tour and steers worse. Where you are travelling more than turning, the extra flex is genuinely more comfortable over a long day. Where you need to drive a ski through heavy snow, it is not enough boot.
For skiers on narrower skis covering ground rather than chasing turns. On a Spider 62 or an Outback 68 it is well matched. On an S-Bound 98 you will be underbooted and working harder than you should be.
It runs close to street size and is forgiving enough to feel right straight away. Try it with a proper ski sock and check the heel holds when you flex forward.
For long rolling days on the Catamount Trail this is what we would put on, and your feet will thank you at the end of it.
