Wool regulates in both directions, which is the property that makes it worth the money. It keeps you warm when you stop moving and it doesn't cook you when the sun comes out, so it works on a twenty-degree tour and a fifty-degree spring hike without changing anything.

Pure merino rather than the equaliserUll blend means more warmth and better odour resistance, at the cost of some durability and drying speed. For cold days and multi-day trips, pure wool is the right call. For everyday hard use, the blend lasts longer.

No zip keeps it simple and slightly warmer at the neck, but it means you vent by taking it off rather than opening it. If you climb hard, the zip neck version is worth the extra.
