This is our most-worn recommendation in the category, because it does four jobs adequately rather than one job perfectly. Under a shell on a cold ski day, over a base layer on a spring skin track, on its own through a Vermont fall, and in a bag for travel. The specialised pieces beat it in their own narrow conditions and lose to it everywhere else.

Warm2 is the middle of Norrøna's synthetic weights. Warmer than the thermo60 pieces, cooler than warm3.

Synthetic rather than down is deliberate for a layer that gets worn hard. It shrugs off damp, dries quickly, and doesn't care about being compressed in a pack every day.
