Backland is Atomic's touring line and XTD Carbon 120 is the stiff end of it. The last is a medium 100mm. Prolite keeps the profile slim and reinforces key zones, the shell is an open-throat Hybrid Overlap for easier step-in, and closure is the Cross Lace 2.5 Z-cable system. Memory Fit personalises shell, cuff and liner, the 3D Platinum Tour Liner is breathable, washable and PVC-free, and cuff rotation is 74 degrees. Full rubber touring sole.
Seventy-four degrees of rotation and a carbon cuff are a touring boot's priorities, and at 120 flex it will not drive a wide ski the way a full alpine shell does. It is a touring boot that skis well, not an alpine boot that tours.
For skiers whose days are mostly earned and who still want to ski the descent properly. Mostly-resort skiers want the Hawx Ultra XTD.
Shell sizing is by full size, 27/27.5 being one boot. Memory Fit moulds shell, cuff and liner together, and the rubber sole works with Shift plus all MN, MNC and pin bindings.
It is the most versatile boot in the Backland range and the one we recommend for a one-boot touring setup.
Ski boots are sized in Mondopoint, based on the length of your foot in centimeters. The chart below is a general reference for converting between sizing systems.
This chart is not a fitting. The only way to know your ski boot size is to be fit in person, either with a Boot Fitting at our shop or from a professional fitting you have had elsewhere. Sizing, shape, and volume vary by brand and model, and a performance fit is snugger than your street shoe. Unworn boots can be returned under our return policy, but a boot that doesn't fit can be a big hassle for your trip if you haven't tried it on.

Half Sizes
Ski boots are built with one shell for each full and half size, so a 27 and a 27.5 are the same boot with a different liner or footboard. That is why sizes are listed together, like 27/27.5.
Very few models differ from this. Scarpa is the main exception, pairing sizes the other way (for example, 26.5/27 share a shell). When a model is sized differently, we call it out on that product's page.
