Full-length side zips let you vent hard on the climb or pull them on over already-buckled boots in the parking lot.

The snap-seal connection to the lofoten jacket matters more than it sounds on paper. A sealed jacket-to-pant interface is the difference between a deep day being fun and being wet from the waist down by second lap. Worth buying the pair together if the budget allows.

GORE-TEX Pro earns its price here more obviously than it does in a jacket. Pants take the abuse — edges, crampons, sitting on rocks and chairlifts, dragging through crust. This is the fabric that survives it. Technical fit with room to layer a base underneath, but not so much room that they balloon. If you're between sizes and plan to wear anything substantial under them, size up.
