Women's lofoten Gore-Tex with thermo80 insulation. Full weather protection and Norrøna's warmer synthetic fill in one jacket, with no mid-layer required and nothing to manage at transitions.
This is the simplest good answer for cold-weather resort skiing. Fewer layers to carry, one zipper to adjust, warm from first chair. The complexity of a layering system is worth it when conditions swing, and it's just complexity when you're skiing lift-served laps in January.
Thermo80 refers to insulation weight in grams per square metre, not a temperature rating. It's the warmer of Norrøna's two weights, and the thermo60 pants are designed to pair with it.
Synthetic insulation rather than down, which keeps performing when it gets damp. On a ski jacket that matters more than the weight penalty.
The limitation is honest: sewn-in insulation can't be removed, so this is a deep-winter jacket rather than a year-round one. If you ski as much spring as winter, buy a shell and layer it.
