The Ravine Plus 3L Pants are Ortovox's high-performance freeride pants, part of the Ravine series developed for steep descents and deep powder. The breathable Ravine 3L fabric, with a partly recycled polyamide face and PU membrane, is rated to a minimum 20,000 mm water column and up to 25,000 g/m²/24h breathability. The women's version weighs 663 g and is made in Europe.
Merino wool inserts in Ravine 3L Merino fabric cover the cold-sensitive areas, so these run warmer than a standard shell pant. The honest trade-off is that extra warmth, which is great on cold days and less necessary on a warm spring skin.
Ortovox gives them its top freeride rating and a solid ski touring score. They are for skiers who want full weather protection and comfort on stormy resort days and powder days out of bounds, with integrated gaiters and Dyneema-Cordura protection against sharp edges.
Loose fit with an adjustable waistband using hook-and-loop and snaps, and a high back waistband. Side zip vents, a zippered hip pocket and two thigh pockets, the right one with a mesh lining and a transceiver carabiner, round it out.
These are a pant we would happily ski in all season long, warm, dry and made for chasing the good snow.
