The Descend Jr. Mips is Smith's youth helmet loaded with the latest safety features to keep up with fast skills progression. It combines Mips with Zonal Koroyd for lightweight, energy-absorbing and ventilated impact protection, in a lightweight in-mold shell certified to ASTM F 2040 and CE EN 1077:2007 Class B. A size M weighs 16 oz (450 g).

The Regulator climate control lets kids open and close its 14 vents with one hand, and AirEvac ventilation works with Smith goggles to keep lenses fog-free. The trade-off is weight: with Koroyd and adjustable venting it is a little heavier than Smith's simplest youth helmets, in exchange for more protection and temperature control.

It is for young skiers and riders who are progressing fast and skiing more of the mountain. An adjustable dial fit makes on-the-fly adjustments easy, youth-specific removable Snapfit SL2 ear pads add warmth, and an Ionic+ antimicrobial lining offers sweat-activated odor control.
