The Petzl Swift RL is a compact rechargeable headlamp that puts out up to 1,100 lumens with a beam that reaches 155 meters. It runs three LEDs in a combined beam, offers six modes including a flashing option, and has both white and red lighting. The whole package weighs 100 grams, charges over USB-C, and carries an IPX4 splashproof rating. A battery indicator and top-mounted switch keep operation simple with gloves on.
The trade-off is the power source. The Swift RL uses a model-specific rechargeable battery, so it is built around charging between outings rather than swapping in standard cells mid-trip. Plan on topping it off with a USB-C cable before long nights out.
This is a strong pick for dawn patrol skinners, trail runners, hunters, and anyone heading out on early starts or late exits where real throw matters. Petzl positions it for everyday carry, professional use, emergency services, and running, and it covers that range well.
The Swift RL ships with its headband included, and at 100 grams it sits light enough for long wear over a hat or under a helmet strap. Fit is one size, with the band handling adjustment.
We think the Swift RL is one of the best all-around headlamps out there: bright, light, rechargeable, and backed by Petzl's 5 year warranty.
