The Völkl Mantra 88 is a hard-snow all-mountain ski built for skilled skiers who love to carve. It runs a rocker-camber-rocker profile with tip and tail rocker and camber underfoot, and a 3D Radius sidecut that blends long radii at the tip and tail for stability with a shorter mid-body radius for quick turn starts.

Völkl builds it on a multilayer beech and poplar woodcore with Tailored Carbon Tips and a Tailored Titanal Frame, where the amount of metal scales with length, so longer sizes are stiffer and more powerful and shorter sizes stay agile. Full sidewalls and a P-Tex 2100 base finish it off.

The trade-off is that this is a demanding, damp ski that wants to be driven. It rewards strong technique with edge hold and precision, and it can feel like a lot of ski for a relaxed cruiser.

It suits intermediate to advanced skiers who spend most of their time on firm snow and groomers. Lengths run 163 to 184 cm. 26/27 is the second year of this shape with a new deeper blue graphic.

For laying down big, clean carves on a cold morning, the Mantra 88 is rock solid and an absolute blast.

This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule

  • Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
  • Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
  • Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
  • Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.

Adjust For

  • Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
  • Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
  • Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
