The X Ultra Snowpilot Waterproof brings Salomon's X Ultra hiking platform into winter. It is a mid-height boot with an Adv.DRY waterproof membrane, a PU-coated leather and textile upper, adv.WARM insulation and a faux fur lining, and it weighs about 1 lb per boot.
The trade-off is that it is built as a warm, nimble winter hiker rather than a heavy pac boot. If you mostly stand around in deep cold, a more heavily insulated boot will be warmer, but the Snowpilot moves far better on the trail.
It is for winter hikers and anyone covering icy trails and snowy sidewalks who wants a boot that still feels like a hiking shoe. The All-Terrain Contagrip outsole bites in snow, and the advancedCHASSIS adds lateral support on uneven ground.
sensiFIT cradles the foot from the midsole to the laces, with regular laces and eyelets, and a winter sockliner with a 4 mm EVA foam layer and soft cover adds warmth underfoot. Try it on with the socks you wear all winter.
We think the Snowpilot is the boot for crisp winter hikes when you want warm feet without feeling like you are wearing snow boots.
