The BCA Scepter Adjustable Aluminum Pole is a backcountry ski pole built on a 7075 aluminum shaft. It weighs about 293 g per pole and has BCA's Scraper Grip, which you can use to scrape snow off skis or a board, flip heel risers and adjust bindings and boots.
The trade-off is that aluminum is a bit heavier than carbon, but the 7075 aluminum shaft is a durable, dependable choice for a pole that lives in the backcountry all winter.
It is for ski tourers and splitboarders who want one adjustable pole for the skin track and the descent. A sprayed-on grip texture on the upper shaft gives you a light choke-up hold on traverses, and the releasable pole strap adds safety in avalanche terrain.
Releasable, adjustable woven straps and a multi-function basket round it out. Adjust the length longer for the descent and shorter for steep climbs.
We think the Scepter is a great all-around touring pole for big days in the Green Mountains and beyond.
