The Taiss IN Hooded Jacket is Mammut's ultralight down jacket for ski touring and mountaineering, built to work as either an insulating layer or an outer layer. It pairs 850 fill power DRYDown (110 g) with a hydrophobic finish and body-mapped synthetic insulation at the forearms, shoulders and hood, all inside a 10D recycled nylon shell with a weather-resistant coating. It weighs 345 g.
The trade-off for that warmth-to-weight ratio is a very fine 10D shell. It is tougher than it looks, and Mammut puts synthetic fill where the jacket sees the most wear, but a heavier-denier jacket will shrug off rock and branches better. What you gain is a puffy that disappears into your pack.
It is for skiers and climbers who want real warmth on the skin track, at transitions and on summits without carrying much. The hydrophobic down keeps insulating even when things get damp.
Regular fit with pre-shaped sleeves and cuffs, a 1-point adjustable hood, a YKK Vislon 2-way zipper and an adjustable hem. It has two zippered side pockets and packs into one of them.
We love the Taiss IN as a do-everything touring puffy, light enough to bring on every tour and warm enough to be glad you did.
