Shift is Salomon's freeride-touring platform, and the Shift Alpha BOA 130 is a true freeride boot that also tours. It has tech inserts in the shell, a 130 flex on a narrow Alpha fit, and a FreeSpine bar that links cuff and shell. The redesigned Twinlock SkiWalk gives a wide range of motion, and a PowerWedge in the FreeSpine boosts transmission when locked.
This boot leans downhill. It is heavier and stiffer than a dedicated touring boot, and it gives you real alpine power and control in return. The Exobelt, a fabric-and-plastic band tied into the BOA system, and a 50mm claw strap keep the heel planted on the way up and the way down.
It is for the skier who rides the lifts hard and tours for the good lines, and wants one boot for both. If you tour for long days or care most about light weight, a MTN boot fits better.
Width is narrow. The My Custom Fit Freeride 4D Race liner has walk function, lace loops and a custom tongue that can gain or lose 8mm at the instep, and Custom Shell HD plus screwable buckles make fit work straightforward.
This is our pick for sidecountry gates and the big lines beyond them. Stiff, powerful, and still happy to skin up to the goods.
Ski boots are sized in Mondopoint, based on the length of your foot in centimeters. The chart below is a general reference for converting between sizing systems.
This chart is not a fitting. The only way to know your ski boot size is to be fit in person, either with a Boot Fitting at our shop or from a professional fitting you have had elsewhere. Sizing, shape, and volume vary by brand and model, and a performance fit is snugger than your street shoe. Unworn boots can be returned under our return policy, but a boot that doesn't fit can be a big hassle for your trip if you haven't tried it on.

Half Sizes
Ski boots are built with one shell for each full and half size, so a 27 and a 27.5 are the same boot with a different liner or footboard. That is why sizes are listed together, like 27/27.5.
Very few models differ from this. Scarpa is the main exception, pairing sizes the other way (for example, 26.5/27 share a shell). When a model is sized differently, we call it out on that product's page.
