The Black Crows Orb Freebird is a 90mm touring ski built for steep, technical backcountry routes. It pairs a front rocker for pivot and float with classic camber underfoot and an intermediate flex along the full length, on a paulownia core with semi-cap construction.
The narrow waist and camber give it precision on firm, steep snow, and the light build makes it efficient on long climbs. The trade-off is less float in deep powder than the wider Camox or Navis Freebird.
It is a great fit for ski mountaineers and spring skiers who want a light, accurate ski for couloirs and big objectives. A titanal plate underfoot also makes it compatible with hybrid bindings like the Salomon Shift and Marker Kingpin.
The radius is 18m and Black Crows recommends a mount point at -10cm. Choose your usual touring length, around chin to nose height.
For steep lines, spring missions and long days in the mountains, the Orb Freebird is a precise, confidence-inspiring ski.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
