The 185 in the name is the fabric weight: 185 g/m² of 100% merino wool, spun with Südwolle's OTW technology so fewer fine hairs stick out, which cuts pilling and adds elasticity. The wool is 19 micron and comes from Ortovox's Tasmanian farms. It regulates temperature and moisture and neutralizes odor. The Long Pants are the full-length bottom in the line, built for winter tours.

Full length means full coverage down to the ankle, and it also means fabric where a boot cuff closes. Most skiers never notice; if you are sensitive to anything under a buckle, the 3/4-length Short Pants solve that.

These are for cold days, lift-served or earned, and for anyone who wants merino from waist to ankle. Skiers who run hot on long climbs may prefer a lighter weight.

The fit is close so it layers under a shell pant without bulk, and merino at this weight stays comfortable across a wide temperature range rather than being tuned to one.
