750-fill down in the falketind line, Norrøna's all-round mountain family. Less specialised than lofoten or trollveggen, and priced accordingly, which is most of why we like it.

A vest is the layer most people underbuy and then wear constantly. This one goes under a shell in January and over a flannel in October, and it's the piece that quietly lives in the back of your car all winter and gets grabbed more than anything else you own.

750-fill is a step below the 800-fill in the trollveggen line — slightly more weight for the same warmth, at a meaningfully lower price. Unless you're counting grams for a long tour, you won't notice, and the money is better in your pocket.

Down's limitation applies here as everywhere: wet down doesn't insulate. For consistently damp conditions, look at the falketind warm2 jacket, which uses synthetic fill.
