The Black Diamond Helio Carbon 108 is the powder ski of the Helio line, with a 108mm waist and early rise in both the tip and tail. It is built on an engineered poplar core with a pre-preg carbon fiber layup and full-perimeter 5mm beveled ABS sidewalls.
The extra width and rocker give it float and make breaking trail easier, and Black Diamond says it is still stiff enough to hold an edge on firm snow. The trade-off is the extra weight and width you carry uphill compared with the Helio 95 or 102.
It is built for skiers who tour for deep snow: storm days, cold powder and big open faces. If most of your touring is on firm or spring snow, a narrower Helio will feel quicker.
Lengths run 166 to 187cm with a 22 to 25m radius. A slightly longer length adds float and stability in deep snow.
For powder days in the backcountry, the Helio Carbon 108 is a poppy, playful ski that makes every turn feel easy.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
