The Topo Athletic Vista is a max-cushion trail shoe with a 38 mm heel and 33 mm forefoot stack and a 5 mm drop. It uses Topo's ZipFoam midsole, which Topo says is springier than EVA and keeps more rebound over the life of the shoe, with a rocker shape and a Vibram Megagrip outsole with 4 mm lugs. A men's size 9 weighs about 10.9 oz.
The trade-off with max cushion is ground feel. The Vista is plush and protective rather than nimble, and there is no rock plate, so it relies on the thick midsole for protection on rough terrain.
It is for runners who want comfort on long days over technical, rugged trails. The FKT insole is made of closed-cell beaded foam that drains water quickly, and a hook-and-loop attachment at the heel works with Topo gaiters.
