The ATK Freeraider 15 Evo is a full-featured tech binding for hard-charging skiers who still want to tour far from the trailhead. Its adjustable toe works with the heel to give a 7 to 15 release range, and the Evo brake system engages and disengages automatically as the heel rotates between ski and tour modes. It weighs about 427 g per binding with the 97 mm brake.
The trade-off is weight compared with a minimalist race binding. You carry a bit more uphill, but you get real freeride retention, 14 mm of heel travel to let the ski flex naturally and a design that ATK calls full-featured without compromise.
It is for backcountry skiers who ski hard on the way down and want one binding for big days and everyday touring. The Cam Release System makes heel step-in easier in deep snow, and the Snow Pack Proof toe sheds snow and ice.
It has 25 mm of BSL adjustment for running more than one boot, two risers plus flat, Magneto heel flaps and an included toe shim and freeride spacer. Brakes come in 97, 102, 108 and 120 mm, and it is crampon ready.
We think the Freeraider 15 Evo is one of the best freeride touring bindings made, light enough to tour all day and strong enough to charge on the way down.
