The ATK Freeride Spacer is a heel spacer for ATK pin bindings. Two pads sit under the boot heel to add support, which ATK says improves power transfer and keeps the boot locked in. It is made from aluminum and nylon, weighs 29 g, and is sold as a pair.
The trade-off is a few extra grams and a little setup time, since you set the height to your boot. In return the binding feels more connected on the way down, and the pads still allow side-to-side release.
It is for touring skiers on ATK bindings who ski hard on the descent and want more support under the heel. It comes standard on the FreeRaider 14 and is an optional add-on for the Raider 12.
Included washers let you match the height to your boot sole or adjust it if you switch boots mid-season. Bring your setup in and we will install and adjust it.
We think the Freeride Spacer is a great little upgrade that makes a light touring binding ski a lot more like a freeride binding.
