ATK Freeride Spacer AL09 2020 25/26

The ATK Freeride Spacer AL09 is a pair of add-on spacers that bridge the gap between the precision of a tech binding and the feel of an alpine binding. They reduce the stiffness difference between the toe and heel pieces and improve boot-to-ski contact for a more responsive descent. Elastic sliding pads handle vertical and torsional load transfer, the height customizes to different boot sole thicknesses, and each spacer weighs just 29 g.

The trade-off is compatibility. The AL09 is made for specific ATK bindings, the Raider 10, Raider 12, C-Raider 10, C-Raider 12, Freeraider 14 and Freeraider 16, and needs a ski at least 85 mm wide at the center.

It is for freeride-minded tourers on those ATK bindings who want their setup to ski more like an alpine binding when the terrain gets serious.

The spacer height adjusts to suit your boot sole, so it can be dialed to the boots you actually ski. ATK notes that proper side release values are maintained even during jumps and compressions.

We think the AL09 is one of the smartest small upgrades for a hard-charging ATK setup. For 29 g, it adds real confidence and power on the way down.
