The Atomic Backland 88 is a light, narrow touring ski for fast spring missions and long traverses, and this listing pairs it with an Atomic Hybrid Skin cut for the ski so you are ready to climb.
It uses a light poplar woodcore with All Mountain Rocker, 15 percent tip rocker and 85 percent camber with a flat tail, so it grips well on firm and spring snow while the HRZN 3D tip helps it plane up in softer snow. A Dura Cap sidewall gives solid edge hold with a durable cap up top.
Atomic builds the Backland 88 with no carbon, less fiberglass and resin, and more wood, using recycled materials where possible. The trade-off for an 88mm waist is less float in deep powder than a wider touring ski, in exchange for less weight and more efficiency on the climb.
It has a partial twin tail and a fast sintered Atomic base with a 1 degree base and 87 degree side edge tune.
It is a fantastic choice for skimo-style days, corn harvesting and big objectives where every gram matters on the way up.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
