Backland Summit 9 BR 26/27

The Backland Summit 9 BR is the same platform as the Summit 12 with release values adjustable up to 9. AutoFlex puts a spring in the heel for 5mm of travel between toe and heel through the arc of a turn, letting the ski flex naturally. The patented step-in aid guides the boot into the pins, the climbing aid moves between 0, 7 and 13 degrees with a pole flick, and the touring brakes lock for hike mode. Alu and fiberglass-reinforced PA construction throughout.

Nine is the ceiling, which rules it out for heavier or harder-charging skiers. That is the only meaningful difference from the Summit 12, and if your setting lands near the top of the range you want the 12 instead.

For lighter tourers and anyone whose release setting sits comfortably in the middle of the range. Aggressive skiers on wide skis should step up.

Brake width clears the ski waist. Bring your boots and we will set release values against weight, height and sole length.

For a lot of people this is all the touring binding they will ever need, and it makes getting into touring genuinely painless.
