The Back Country 2.0 3-Finger is the next version of Auclair's long-running Back Country model, rebuilt with upgraded materials and refined construction. The 3-finger layout groups your ring and pinky fingers together while leaving the index finger free.
That split is the whole point. You get much of the warmth of a mitt while keeping enough dexterity to work a pole strap, a binding or a buckle. It is not as nimble as a five-finger glove, and it is not quite as warm as a full mitt, but it lands in a very useful middle.
It is built for demanding winter use: alpine touring, ice fishing and remote snowmobiling. A reinforced leather palm handles wear, a soft brushed Bemberg lining keeps it comfortable in cold, wet conditions, and extended over-cuffs keep snow out. An adjustable wrist strap and a carabiner loop finish it off.
Choose your usual glove size and check that the over-cuff fits over your jacket sleeve.
We love this one for long, cold days out in the backcountry, when you still need a free index finger to get things done.
