The Black Crows Octo Birdie is a brand-new all-terrain ski, a young cousin inspired by the Mirus and the UFO ski. It is 84 mm underfoot with a very short 14 m radius, a classic medium camber underfoot and a swallowtail, there for style.

Black Crows set out to take on-piste and piste-side skiing a step further, mixing angular curves with newschool-inspired ease. The short sidecut gives super reactivity and fast edge-to-edge transitions, and the intermediate flex keeps carving fun. The trade-off of a narrow carver is float, so a wider ski is the better call on deep powder days.

Black Crows calls it a UFO for carving that will appeal to fanatics and novices alike. It is for skiers who want a playful, easy-turning ski for groomers and the edges of the trail.

Quick Rule

  • Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
  • Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
  • Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
  • Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.

Adjust For

  • Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
  • Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
  • Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
