Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons 25/26

The Black Diamond Contact Strap is a classic 10-point glacier crampon made from extremely corrosion-resistant stainless steel, with sharper front and rear points for better grip on snow and ice. It uses Black Diamond's I.C.E. modular toe and heel bails and comes with an updated ABS plate. A pair weighs about 872 g.

The trade-off is that this is a glacier and alpine crampon, not a technical ice climbing tool. Ten points and a strap-style attachment are about versatility and security on snow slopes, not front-pointing steep ice.

It is for ski mountaineers and climbers heading onto glaciers, volcanoes and spring snow routes. The modular bails let you switch between automatic-style and strap attachments, so it works with nearly any boot. Black Diamond tests it with RMI guides from the Cascades to Ecuador.

One size fits boot sizes 36 to 46.

We think the Contact Strap is a great crampon for spring corn missions, Mount Washington gullies and big volcano trips.
