The Black Diamond Impulse Ti 104 is an all-mountain charger with a 104 mm waist in lengths of 172, 179 and 186 cm. It is made in Austria with an engineered poplar core, a pre-preg fiberglass layup and a variable-width Titanal sheet, and it uses recycled content in the race base, sidewalls and tip inlay, which is made from old ski boots.

Flat-top construction, full ABS sidewalls and the Titanal layer add torsional stiffness, power transmission, dampness and edge hold on firmer snow. The trade-off is weight: at 3,660 to 3,940 g per pair depending on length, this is a resort-first freeride ski rather than a light touring plank.

Black Diamond calls it a freerider's one-ski quiver, with optimal use at 70% soft snow and 30% hard snow. Rockered tip and tail with traditional camber underfoot give it turnability in tight spots and playful float in powder. It is built for hard-charging skiers chasing deep turns off-piste.

Turn radius runs 17, 18 and 19 m across the 172, 179 and 186 cm lengths. We are happy to help you choose a length at the shop.

This is a ski we would happily ride every day of the season, powerful on groomers and a blast when it snows.

This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule

  • Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
  • Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
  • Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
  • Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.

Adjust For

  • Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
  • Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
  • Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
