The Impulse Ti 98 is a versatile all-mountain ski with a moderate 98 mm waist that can hold its own at high speeds. It is Austrian-made with an engineered poplar core, a pre-preg fiberglass layup and a variable-width Titanal sheet for edge hold, and it uses post-consumer recycled content, including a tip inlay made from old ski boots.
Flat-top construction and full ABS sidewalls add power and torsional stiffness, so it blows through chop and tackles steep, chalky, technical lines with confidence. The trade-off is weight: at 3,480 to 3,920 g per pair, it is built for resort and sidecountry rather than long skin tracks.
Black Diamond puts optimal use at 60% soft snow and 40% hard snow. Rockered tip and tail with camber underfoot make it comfortable ripping groomers and seeking out day-old powder in the trees. It is for strong skiers who want one ski for the whole mountain.
Available in 175 to 189 cm, with turn radii of 17, 18 and 19 m across the length range. We are happy to help you dial in the right length at the shop.
We think this is a fantastic East Coast daily driver, stable on hardpack and plenty of fun when the trees fill in.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
