The Dancer 79 is Faction's metal-free piste ski, built for skiers who want reliable carving with a more easygoing feel. It measures 118/79/107 mm at every length, with a lightweight poplar core set between two layers of fiberglass, an elliptical sidecut, XL 2.5 mm edges and a sintered base. The 172 has a 16 m radius and weighs 1540 g per ski.
The trade-off of leaving out titanal is a lighter, poppier ride rather than a heavy, damp one. It is lively and easy to turn, and skiers who want maximum grip at high speed will want the Dancer 79 Ti.
It is for skiers who spend their days on groomers and want a snappy, rhythmic carver that rewards good technique without wearing them out. Tip and tail rocker with traditional camber underfoot and Faction's Mustache Flex keep it stable underfoot and smooth in the tips and tails.
Lengths run 152 to 184, with the radius growing from 12 m to 18 m as the ski gets longer. The progressive flat tail finishes turns cleanly. Come talk to us about the right length for your height and how you like to ski.
We love the Dancer 79 as a trusted companion for laying down clean arcs from first chair to last run.
This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
