La Machine 2 is Faction's ultra-lightweight carbon touring ski, built for extended and multi-day tours. It measures 124/99/116 mm with a paulownia wood core, fiberglass layers and two full-length carbon sheets for response and torsional rigidity, plus full-strength sidewalls, 2 mm edges and a micro-cap anti-shine topsheet. The 177 has a 19 m radius and weighs 1390 g per ski.
The trade-off of an ultralight carbon ski is less mass to plow through rough snow. It is easy to carry uphill all day, and skiers who mostly ride the resort will want a heavier, damper ski.
It is for playful touring skiers who ski every condition, from dry morning snow to afternoon slush. The extended tip and tail rocker with low camber was engineered for off-piste skiing, and it is lighter and softer than the Agent 2.
Made in Austria with a partial twin tip and Mustache Flex. Come talk to us about length and a touring binding and skin setup to match.
We love the La Machine 2 for long days in the backcountry when every gram on the skin track counts.
This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
