The Tahoma is Folkrm's two-stage adjustable carbon splitboard pole, named after Mt. Rainier. It weighs 218 g (7.7 oz), adjusts anywhere from 105 to 140 cm, and collapses to 64 cm so it nearly disappears in a pack. The shaft is carbon fiber, finished with a tungsten carbide tip and a 9 cm locking freeride powder basket.
The trade-off for packing that small is a shorter grip than Folkrm's ski poles. The Tahoma runs a 17.5 inch (44 cm) grip sized for backpack storage, while the Pahto and Wyeast carry Folkrm's 64 cm long grip for choking up on traverses. If your poles stay in your hands all day, the Pahto is the better match.
It is built for splitboarders and alpinists who spend part of every tour with poles strapped to a pack. The stout grip gives you something solid to lean on when you are booting up steep terrain, and it still works fine on the way down if you ski.
One size fits all. The tool-less quick lock and easy-flip adjustment set your length in seconds, the molded, rubberized Mega Cap handles riser flips and toe locking, and the strap comes off easily for avalanche terrain.
We think the Tahoma is the perfect pole for splitboard days, light on the pack and ready the moment you transition.
