The K2 Wayback 106 is the deep-snow member of the Wayback touring family, built for powder days and uphill travel with a focus on low weight.

The Wayback is K2's touring line, built on a Paulownia Tour Light core with Titanal Touring Technology laminates for downhill stability and edge hold, a bio-based resin with 31 percent bio-based carbon content, and a Snophobic topsheet that resists snow buildup on the skin track. The 106 adds Carbon Overdrive construction for high performance at very low weight.

The trade-off with a light, wide touring ski is that it will not feel as damp as a heavy freeride ski when the snow is firm and chattery. Where it earns its keep is on the climb and in soft snow on the way down.

It suits intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers who tour for powder and want a ski that floats without wearing out their legs. The all-terrain rocker uses a low tip rise and a short tail rise with camber underfoot, so it skins and climbs predictably.

For deep days in the Green Mountains backcountry, the Wayback 106 is a light, floaty ski that makes every lap worth the climb.

Quick Rule

  • Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
  • Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
  • Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
  • Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.

Adjust For

  • Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
  • Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
  • Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
