The Eiger Free Advanced HS Hooded Jacket is the shell Mammut built and tested with professional freeriders for tricky, technical lines. It uses GORE-TEX C-KNIT, a softer, lighter and more breathable GORE-TEX fabric, with a 70D face, a 28,000 mm water column and a RET under 13. It weighs 665 g, and the face fabric and backer are recycled.
The trade-off is that it is an uninsulated hardshell, so your warmth comes from what you layer underneath. That is the point on big days on foot, but skiers who spend most of the day on the chair may be happier in an insulated jacket.
It is for freeriders and ski tourers who need a jacket that moves on steep terrain. The climbing-specific pattern articulates with your arms, the front zip is built for easy repair, a repair patch kit is included and there is a RECCO reflector.
Snow Sports Regular fit with room for layers, a helmet and a transceiver. Helmet-compatible hood with a reinforced peak, 2-way water-repellent front zip with a fleece-lined chin guard, underarm vents, two chest pockets, two internal mesh dump pockets, a sleeve pocket, wrist gaiters and a zip-off snow skirt.
We think the Eiger Free Advanced is the jacket you want on for your biggest days, when the line gets steep and the weather turns.
