The Haldigrat GTX HS Thermo Hooded Jacket is Mammut's insulated freeride hardshell, a GORE-TEX shell paired with Polartec Alpha active insulation for the coldest lift days and deep-winter backcountry missions. The 70D recycled polyamide face has a 28,000 mm water column and a RET under 13, and the jacket weighs 680 g.
The trade-off is that the warmth is built in. Polartec Alpha breathes better than most insulated shells, so it copes with milder days too, but on long spring skin tracks an uninsulated shell gives you more room to adjust with layers.
It is for skiers and riders who spend real time on the chair or in the cold and want one jacket that covers both. A wrist ski-pass pocket, zip-off snow skirt, zippered underarm vents and an integrated RECCO reflector are all built in.
Snow Sports Regular fit with room for warm layers, a helmet and an avalanche transceiver. The helmet-compatible hood has a reinforced peak, and there are two chest pockets, two harness-compatible front pockets, an inner zip pocket and hook-and-loop cuffs.
We think the Haldigrat Thermo is the jacket for the days everyone else calls too cold, warm on the chair and ready for deep laps.
