The lofoten shell without the Pro-grade fabric or the Pro-grade price. Same silhouette, same freeride intent, same helmet-compatible storm hood and zip-off powder skirt, built in standard GORE-TEX rather than GORE-TEX Pro. Everything you interact with is identical; the difference is in the fabric's abrasion resistance.

For most skiers this is the smarter buy and we'll tell you so at the counter. GORE-TEX Pro earns its money on multi-day expedition abuse, heavy pack-strap wear and rock contact. Both fabrics are equally waterproof. If you ski hard on weekends and want a shell that lasts many years, start here and put the difference toward a touring setup or a season pass.

The people who should spend up to Pro are guides, patrollers, anyone carrying a loaded pack most days, and anyone who's already worn through a shell. If you've never worn out a jacket, you probably won't wear out this one either.

Cut is the same freeride fit as the Pro version, articulated with a dropped back hem and room for a mid-layer.
