The Fleece Light Zip Neck is Ortovox's mountain base layer reworked into a midlayer you can wear confidently as an outer piece. It is made from Merino Fleece Light, 67% polyester, 26% merino and 7% elastane, with fine Tasmanian merino on the skin. The women's version weighs just 210 g and it is made in Europe.
During strenuous activity the merino absorbs moisture and neutralizes odors, while the high stretch content keeps it comfortable and unrestricted. The trade-off is that this is a light, breathable layer rather than a warm one on its own, so on the coldest days plan on an insulating jacket over the top.
Ortovox rates it highest for ski touring and freeride, and it is a natural pick for anyone who works hard on the uptrack and wants a layer that stays dry and fresh. If what you are after is a thick, cozy fleece for cold resort days, a heavier piece will serve you better.
Regular fit with a two-layer collar and a half-length zipper that ventilates on the climb and makes it easy to get on and off.
We think it is a perfect everyday touring layer, light enough to forget about and good-looking enough to wear straight into town afterward.
