The Quest Echo GTX is a lightweight multi-day hiking boot from Salomon, waterproof with a GORE-TEX membrane and built on the 4D advancedCHASSIS for stability and agility on and off trail. It has a nubuck leather upper, an EnergyCell EVA midsole and a 12 mm drop on a 34 mm heel and 22 mm forefoot stack, and it weighs 1 lb 2 oz per boot.
The trade-off is that its stable, protective build carries more structure than a hiking shoe. That is welcome on rocky, technical ground with a pack, though on easy groomed paths a lighter shoe will feel quicker.
It is for hikers and backpackers heading out on multi-day trips over rocky, technical and mixed terrain. A protective toecap and mudguard guard against rocks, and the All-Terrain Contagrip outsole handles changing surfaces.
Regular width with sensiFIT cradling the foot from midsole to laces, a gusseted tongue, regular laces with eyelets and a molded OrthoLite sockliner.
We think the Quest Echo is a fantastic companion for long days and big trips, comfortable from the first mile to the last.
