The Voile Vector BC is a scaled-base all-mountain touring ski handmade in Utah, with a 94mm waist at 171cm. It takes the Vector shape and adds a molded Traction Pattern BC base underfoot for grip on rolling and moderate terrain.
The trade-off is that the scale base gives up some glide compared with a smooth base, and steep skin tracks still need skins. Voile lists the same weights as the standard Vector, so the scales add no weight.
It is a great match for distance tourers who want fewer transitions on approaches and exits, and for telemark skiers. It works with AT, including tech bindings, and telemark bindings.
The Vector BC comes in 154, 164, 171, 177 and 184cm, with dimensions from 119-90-105 to 133-98-116mm and turn radii from 16.5 to 20 meters. Construction is a poplar core with Voile Carbon-Weave, full cap, fiberglass mounting patches, an anti-ice topsheet and full-contact steel edges. The Early Rise Camber profile has an early-rise tip, camber underfoot and a flat, wide tail.
We love the Vector BC as a touring ski that covers ground and still skis like a Vector.
Tech Features
Early Rise Camber
Early-rise tip and wide shovel for powder float, camber underfoot for edge hold and a wide, flat tail for control in debris and firm snow.
Traction Pattern BC Scales
Scales underfoot grip when the ski is weighted and glide as you stride, cutting down on skin transitions on rolling terrain.
Voile Carbon-Weave
Two layers of carbon combined with triaxial fiberglass for torsional stiffness with less weight.
Mounting Patch
Fiberglass patch at the heel and toe resists binding pull-out.
Full-Contact Steel Edges
Hardened steel edges with inset teeth for grip on hardpack and ice.
Anti-Ice Topsheet
Textured polyamide topsheet that limits snow and ice buildup on long approaches.

This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
