The Völkl Blaze 104 is a light, maneuverable freeride ski for lift-served and self-powered skiing. It uses a hybrid multilayer woodcore with a CNC-milled Isocore center and GreenCore elements, FSC-certified hardwoods with bio-based resin, plus carbon and a 0.3 mm Titanal binding platform.

Völkl builds it with a 4 Radius Drive sidecut, roughly 20 m in the shovel, 40 m from shovel to binding, 15 m under the binding and 25 m behind it, to make turn initiation predictable. Suspension Tips and Tails use elastic TPU inserts to smooth the ride and reduce catches in variable snow, and full sidewalls deliver direct power.

The trade-off with a light freeride ski is that it is strongest in short to medium turns. It holds well at speed when driven, yet it is not a heavy charger built for wide-open GS turns.

It suits intermediate to advanced skiers who mix resort days with touring. Available in Purple and Teal, with lengths from 158 to 186 cm.

For skiers who want one ski for powder laps at the resort and tours in the backcountry, the Blaze 104 is a fantastic, versatile choice.

This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule

  • Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
  • Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
  • Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
  • Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.

Adjust For

  • Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
  • Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
  • Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
