The Völkl Blaze Jr is a junior freeride ski with a 3D Radius Sidecut, built on a multilayer woodcore with laminated wood sidewalls, harder wood along the edges and lighter, more flexible wood in the center. It weighs 935 g per ski without a binding.
Tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot help it initiate turns with little force at moderate speeds, and a full ABS sidewall adds durability and power transmission to the edges.
The trade-off is that it is built for maneuverability and ease. Strong junior racers wanting a stiffer, more demanding ski may look elsewhere.
It suits junior skiers who want an easy-turning ski for groomers, moguls, powder and trees, and it handles occasional ski touring with a suitable touring binding and matching skins. Lengths run 118 to 158 cm.
For young adventurers exploring every corner of the mountain, the Blaze Jr is a fun, forgiving ski.
This guide is for alpine (downhill) skis. Ski length depends on your height, your ability, and how you like to ski. Use this chart as a starting point, then talk to us about the ski itself: rocker, width, and turn shape all change how long a ski feels.

Quick Rule
- Beginner: ski tip around your chin. Shorter skis turn easily.
- Intermediate: tip between your nose and forehead.
- Advanced: tip around the top of your head, for stability at speed.
- Expert: about 5cm longer than advanced, for hard charging and big-mountain terrain.
Adjust For
- Go longer: heavier build, fast skiing, deep snow, lots of tip rocker.
- Go shorter: lighter build, tight trees and moguls, uphill touring.
- Telemark: if you want a ski for tele, we recommend going down about 10cm from the length you normally like.
