Rent or Demo Touring Gear Before You Buy

Touring advice from the shop on the Mountain Road in Stowe, Vermont

Touring gear is a real investment, and the right setup depends on how you ski and where. The easiest way to figure that out is to try some before you buy.

Rent a touring setup

We rent Alpine Touring and Telemark packages, with or without climbing skins. A rental is the perfect way to learn to tour on the resort. Skin up the side of a trail, practice your transitions and ski down on familiar terrain while you get used to the gear. See ski rentals to reserve online.

Demo before you commit

If we carry a ski but do not offer it as a demo, ask anyway. We will often mount one up for you to try with no commitment. You pay the rental price for the day, and if you decide to buy, we take it off the price. Learn more about our demo program.

What to pay attention to

Notice how your boots feel on the climb, especially around your heels and ankles. Pay attention to how the ski handles steep, firm snow on the way down, because you will see plenty of it around here. And try a few transitions with cold hands. Gear that is simple to switch over makes every day better.
